Basic Configuration (WAN/LAN) of SonicWALL Router
What is SonicWALL Router?
A sonic wall router is a device that provides firewall and routing capabilities for network security. Sonic wall routers are designed to protect small and medium businesses, branch locations, and distributed enterprises from cyberattacks, malware, and ransomware.
To initiate WAN configuration on the SonicWall router, commence by accessing its web interface via a standard web browser. Input the default IP address, typically 192.168.168.168, into the browser’s address bar.
Upon accessing the web interface, a login prompt will appear. Enter the appropriate administrative credentials to proceed.
Proceed to the “Manage” section of the administrative interface, then expand the “Network” category. Within this expanded section, select the “Interfaces” option.
By default, when accessing the website “ipchicken,” it will display a randomly assigned public IP address.
Navigate to the settings for interface X1, and proceed to configure the WAN interface with the appropriate WAN IP address.
After applying the appropriate WAN IP address configuration, the same WAN IP address will be displayed when accessing “ipchicken.”
To configure the LAN IP, access the X0 interface settings and select the pencil icon for editing.
Once the LAN IP address has been properly configured with the correct IP address and subnet mask, proceed to the PC and execute the command “ipconfig /release” followed by “ipconfig /renew” to refresh the network configuration.
Congratulations on successfully configuring both the LAN and WAN settings! Your network is now properly configured and ready for use.
